OUR HEAD INSTRUCTOR, SENSEI VIZZIO IS THE LEGENDARY UNDISPUTED WORLD KICKBOXING CHAMPION.
sENSEI VIZZIO HAS BEEN TRAINING SHOTOKAN KARATE WITH gRANDMASTER MIYAZAKI SINCE THE 1970'S. OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS HE HAS TAUGHT KARATE AND KICKBOXING AT THE VARIOUS DOJO LOCATIONS THAT SENSEI MIYAZAKI HAS ESTABLISHED. CURRENTLY HE TEACHES CLASSES TO JUNIOR, TEEN AND ADULT KARATE AT OUR BAYSIDE DOJO.
Paul Vizzio is best known for holding 19 World KICKBOXING Champion titles over a 23 year period from 11 professional kickboxing organizations in 5 different weight divisionS. His professional kickboxing record is 47 wins and 1 loss. Thirty-six wins were by knockout. IT WAS SENSEI MIYAZAKI THAT ENCOURAGED HIM AND SUPPORTED HIM IN HIS CAREER IN THE PKA. Boxing skills learned in his youth were further SHARPENEd with professional boxer Emilio Narvaez, Robert the Bear Alvarado, Sammy Alvarado and noted trainers, John Rainier and Phil Borgia. It is probable that the balance of hand techniques perfected there, combined with the strong, varied kicking techniques of Fu Jow Pai, contributed considerably to Vizzio's unprecedented success at kickboxing.
In the early sixties Vizzio began studying Fu Jow Pai (Tiger Claw KUNG FU), in New York's Chinatown, with Grandmaster Ng Wai Hong, the Grandmaster of the Fu Jow Pai system, and President of the World Fu Jow Pai Federation. Vizzio earned the rank of Sai Chuon (Fourth Degree Black belt), the highest rank Grandmaster Hong has ever awarded a student.
In 1971 he began teaching Tiger Claw for Grandmaster Wai Hong at his Chinatown school and at Columbia University, where he taught for 12 years. FOR 30 YEARS He HAD HIS own school, Wai Mo Kwoon, in New Jersey WHERE HE TAUGHT KICKBOXING AND KUNG-FU. IN 2006 VIZZIO'S INSTITUTE OF MARTIAL ARTS WAS ESTABLISHED IN FAIRFIELD, NJ, WHERE He currently offers ADVANCED classes in kung-fu and kickboxing
aS WELL AS TEACHING AT THE bAYSIDE DOJO AND vima, HE ALSO INSTRUCTS MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES in Hoboken, NJ AT THE SCHOOL OF THE TAE-KWONDO OLYMPIAN KEVIN PADILLA.
gRANDMASTER Toyotaro Miyazaki IS A lifelong friend TO SENSEI vIZZIO and THE godfather to HIs first child, Veronica. tHE GRANdMASTER HAS HONORED SENSEI VIZZIO WITH A 7TH DEGREE SHOTOKAN BLACKBELT.
